Mark Knapp’s Biography
The world is full of many stories. Many of those stories fit in clean buckets. Mine usually do not.
Having read speculative fiction my whole life, I was frequently disappointed by how I felt after finishing a book. Discouraged or disorientated by the world.
Over time, my tastes refined. It took decades until I knew exactly what I wanted: Wonder, warmth and bonds between loved ones amidst high stakes and moral seriousness. I cherished the books I found that shared this passion.
In my late forties decided to start telling the stories that I wanted to read.
I am a software engineering manager with over twenty-five years of experience in Silicon Valley tech.
I am a husband of 21 years to an autistic, beautiful, wonderful wife.
I the father of six children, three adopted, almost all with some combination of autism, mental disability, sensory processing disorder, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and trauma.
I was a foster father for twelve years, caring for over 25 children until I needed to focus on the ones God gave me.
I play the Bass Viola Da Gamba.
Most of my life I have been learning how families form through commitment as much as circumstance. These experiences inform my writing, which focuses on love, responsibility, and belonging under pressure.
